Terms
Last updated 24 July 2026
Cendarum is v0.1.0, pre-launch, and free. These terms cover the early-access programme and are deliberately short. They are not a substitute for the commercial agreement that will exist when there is something to buy.
What you're agreeing to
We give you access to pre-release software and a hosted API. You use it at your own risk, on the understanding that it is unfinished.
What we don't promise
- No uptime commitment. There is no SLA. The API may be unavailable, sometimes without notice.
- No warranty. The software is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express and implied.
- No liability for lost data, lost revenue, or consequential damages arising from use of pre-release software.
- No stability guarantee. Formats and behaviour may change between early-access builds. We will tell you when something breaking lands.
The one that actually matters
If you lose your master password and your Recovery Kit, your data is unrecoverable. Not by us, not by anyone. There is no reset, no backdoor, and no support escalation — that is a property of the design, not a limitation of our support hours. See what is unrecoverable.
Please keep independent backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. cendarum export exists partly for this.
Your responsibilities
- Keep your master password and Recovery Kit safe, and don't share them.
- Do the fingerprint ceremony properly. Several of our security claims depend on it and say so.
- Don't use the service to store material that is illegal to possess where you are.
- Don't attack the service or attempt to access other people's data. Security research is welcome — see disclosure — but stop at the point where you would be reading someone else's data, and tell us instead.
Cost
Early access is free and unbilled. The price is published — free for one person, $8 per user per month for teams — but billing is not built, so nothing can charge you today. If a paid tier is introduced, existing early-access users will be told before anything changes, and nothing will start charging you silently.
Ending it
You can stop at any time. Export what you need, then delete your account by emailing hello@cendarum.com from the address on it.
We may end early access, for you or in general. If we shut the service down we will give notice with enough time to export — see the FAQ, which answers this question directly rather than pretending it won't be asked.
Licence
The software is licensed under MIT or Apache-2.0, at your option. The licence files are in the repository; the repository is not public yet, so there is currently nothing distributed to you under those terms. Publishing it is on the roadmap.
Changes to these terms
If they change materially, early-access users get an email. Otherwise the date at the top is the record.
